Well, I lost my Sage 2 at work yesterday, and it did not show up today, which means its gone for good :(. I noticed a few days ago that the clip was starting to bend out, and I was too lazy to take it off and bend it back into place. I guess I'll have to run with my native as a replacement until I save up for a new Sage 2. Just needed to share my frustrations.

Sorry for your loss. While I like the looks of a wire clip, I think it works best for Dragonfly size knives. I had to fiddle with the wire clip on my first Sage more than once.
Some are asking for the wire clip on a P2 - not a good combo for me.

Sorry for your loss. Check your vehicle again, knives are great at finding hiding places in cars.

Think the one thing Spyderco has learned over the years is that no clip is people proof. People have bent, snapped, twisted, and otherwise mutilated wire, three screw, barrel bolt, and integral FRN clips.

This is so true. I thought I had lost my Mini Persian and I triple checked EVERYWHERE. A few days later I found it clipped onto the lower part of my seatbelt. I guess it got clipped on there while I was driving and it pulled it right out of my pocket when I unbuckled. I was so relieved.

Wow, I am very sorry to hear that. "Devastating" pretty much sums that up. I hate losing stuff almost more than anything, especially when it's something I care a lot about.

I hope you find it somewhere.

I never use the clips and always drop a Spyderco into my pocket. I'd only use a clip for the Spyderco models with clips that are larger than any I own.
If a knife needs to go on a belt - I hesitate to use a folder and will generally reach for a fixed blade when I can. I am more likely to carry a really large folder in a belt sheath when doing something like fishing while sitting in a boat. There, I might want a larger folding knife in a sheath on my hip - along with a fixed blade in the tackle box.
I have read too many stories about people losing their knives when clipped, and I am certain that I would do so promptly.
Sorry about your loss.

That sucks. I have never lost a knife clipped to my pocket. I have lost knives that don't have clips such as SAKs.

Losing a knife isn't fun! I lost my large regular sebenza for 11 month....found it in the stangest place.

that sucks, hopefully it randomly comes back somehow since you lost it at work >.< i lost a knife in a taxi when i was in korea. I didn't realize it till i was already at my friends place. clip wasn't being used just dropped it in the pocket, and it dropped right out :P

There is no doubt that all clips can be vulnerable. I have snapped a cheapo. The difference I have noticed is that the clips on my Delicas, Paras, Millies have really been bulletproof and the wire clip on my Sage would bend much easier. The good thing was it was easy to remove and repair. I liken them to more casual use and great for leaving the material on my pants!

The good news is you can still be another one. Now if it was a discontinued model, that would really suck. Lossing things is just part of life my friend. I wouldn't dwell on it. Just move on and get another one when you can.

I've started using Sack Ups to pocket-carry folders when I don't want to use a clip.

It helps keep knives safer from keys and coins, etc.

Seems to work well with Sage-size knives (but not recommended for the Emerson Wave!)

I lost my SE Dragonfly about a year ago. It really pained me. Last time I remember using it was to open some copier paper in the office...I think I placed it down somewhere & it grew legs...

It was a mixed blessing. I came back to the classifieds on this board looking for a replacement & ended up acquiring some truly cool Spydies.
