Has anybody had problems with Devcon 2 Ton crystal clear epoxy? In particular the hardener being various shades of urine yellow? The last two batches I have rec'd from the U.S. were both like this . I had a rush job for a customer that I left for a Sunday evening and had to use this stuff as it was all I had on hand and didn't notice it until I opened both sealed boxes. It took almost 6 hours for the slabs to set up before I could work them. This was a real pain as I usually have to go like hell to screw the rivets in before set up.

If anybody knows where I can get this stuff in Canada and not have the hassle of long waits and returns via international post it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jim Ziegler

I have had it turn yellow with age. That does not seem to affect it's performance. What will hurt Devcon, and many other two part epoxies is heat. I have lost a few large bottles of Devcon due to storing it in my shop, high heat in the summer, very cold in the winter. It won't setup when it goes bad, just stays kind of rubbery.
I found the best thing was, to store it in the house. Works for me anyway.

My experience has been the same as mikes. That's one of the reasons that I prefer JB weld over Devcon.

Thanks for the replies . The one box is a year or two old but the newest just arrived from Koval's last week and has a 2005 expiry date on it. I'll put it down to the heat as we don't have air conditioning in the house,(live on the north shore of lake erie and get great breezes). I guess I'll have to go back to the marine epoxy, slow down and use more colourant to cover its the lack of clearness.

Thanks Jim Ziegler
