I usually don't get to personal on here and I only show my Becker Family.

Today I thought I would post some pics of me and my other family........the Wife and kid.

I always enjoy the threads of all your adventures with your families and stuff so I guess It is my turn. Nothing is better in my book that family and the outdoors.

Well on Saturday I took the Wife and kid out to do a little hiking and let the boy swim for the first time. He absolutely loved it, was a natural in the water.
We all had a great time.

First spot we stopped at and let the boy play in the water.

He was so excited to be in the water and I was the proudest father ever!

Took him to the deeper water and he was a little more hesitant.

This set of rocks looked like it would make an awesome shelter if needed. I'd just be scared of it cracking and crushing me.

Looked like a stick bug crawling across a web?

Well the wife and little one needed a break so I set up the hammock for them. He was so tired that he fell asleep with an orange slice in his hand. haha.

I left them and went to gather some punk wood that we passed on the trail earlier.

My trusty BK-16 was ready for action!

Someone woke up while I was in the middle of processing the wood.

Broke off all the punk wood, some of the outer wood on one side was still hard so I left that.

Filled up my empty 40oz Kleen Kanteen and also my water bottle holder with the punk wood. Gonna char it sometime this week.
Never used charred punk wood before but I hear its great for flint and steel. Gonna try that instead of my char cloth.

Drying out fire steel that was in my sheath since I went in the water with it.

What a fun time. And Almost had to put up the tarp cause it was about to rain, felt a few drops but quickly blew over. I wanted the wife to try the tarp and hammock out in a rain storm so bad! lol Maybe next time. :D
Good news is that the Wife liked the hammock so much that she said she wanted to go hammock camping with me. So I guess its time to order her her own hammock with a bug net!

Hope you all enjoyed my little adventure and thanks for looking.

I dig that file work on your 16, great touch! Man, you've got a great area down there. I ever make it to Texas, I'm checking out that area. I'm happy to see y'all got out and had a great time.

Awesome stuff mate, love the hammock camping!!! I've got a Warbonnet Blackbird on order at the moment for my almost 10 year old son.....figured he's about old enough to start coming out with me on his own.

SNAFU

Wow, that's gorgeous! I imagine it's as hot in Boerne as it is in Austin. That looks like a blast.

Looks like quality family time spent in one mighty big chunk of Heaven. Great post Dex!

That is a beautiful place! I agree with the others that you are creating family memories that will last a lifetime. Soon you will have pics of the little one with his first Becker.

Thank you all and glad you enjoyed the pics.
It was a great day and I can't wait to do more trips especially some overnight and longer adventures. My son is finally at the age where we can actually get out and do stuff.
I'm just so glad the wife is showing interest in the outdoor activities.

I grew up exposed to the outdoors from a very early age and I want to make sure my son is as well. Seems to many children these days grow up with no respect for nature and all they want to do is sit in front of a tv. Haha.

And yes making memories is awesome!

Nikki, yes it was quite hot that day but once we got near the creek, it was fully shaded by all the huge cypress tress and was kinda cool at moments. Glad I'm not stuck on 35 or mopac in my jeep with the top and doors off anymore. haha. Man I used to burn up when I lived in Austin.

CDKJudo, The beard is as old as my son. The last time I shaved was an hour before my son was born. I'm crazy like that, was gonna shave it on his first birthday but decided to wait another year. haha

SNAFU, Thats so awesome! And your son is old enough to make fire and use knives! Can't wait to show my son the ways of the outdoorsman.

And I can't wait to give him his first Becker. An 11 or 16 for sure, then a 9!:D

Awesome pics man! Had a smile on my face the whole time scrolling through them.. One day we will have to get our boys together for a hike and swim :)

thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the pics. And for sure we should do that sometime. Would be very cool and the kids would have a blast!

That pic of your better half and kid sleeping in the hammock is just adorable.
And the sabre grind 16 is allmost as awesome as the beard.

Looks like a blast. Nice looking area. Good on ya for taking the fam out.
