Himalayan Imports has a uniquely wide range of avid fans, and a very strong sense of community. Combine these qualities with very accepting leadership, and you have the potential for truly wonderful interaction. Unfortunately, the same things that attract the gamut of knife aficionados here, also attracts others sometimes who are here out of desperation.

If you read a post from someone that appears to be trolling, an attempt to just incite fury from the other members, you have several options.

1) Let it go. We all have bad days, blond moments, and sometimes, we're just wrong. It's part of being human. Give folks a chance to show what they're really made of.

2) Consider from another perspective. People are more alike than not, and sometimes, we just have not found the words we need to explain our view of something.

3) Place the user on your ignore list. On the bar near the top of the screen is an option that says "User CP". Choose this, and scroll down to your Buddy/Ignore list. Click. This will give you the option of adding people whose messages you do not want to see while browsing. You can always take this person off the list in the future, if you so choose.

4) Report the post. Hopefully, this will be the least utilized option, so use it sparingly. If there is strong personal attack, links to porn, or other serious problems, staff at Blade Forums cannot help if they aren't aware of the problem.

We want to keep the spirit that has made this place one of the best spots to go learn about knives and life on the web. To keep this spirit, we must avoid giving energy to those who would generate strife. Without an opponent, they can then only fight themselves, and may one day see the error of their ways.

DFTT- Don't Feed The Trolls- this just makes them keep coming back.

For clarity,
I know you mean -feeding- them makes them come back.

The trouble with ignoring Trolls is they present an almost irresistable impulse to push yet another pointed stick at the Monkey in the cage.
Someone always gives in.

I've been guiltier than most of poakkeing teh mankey with a poinded stik. I'll do my best to refrain from such activity in the future, as tempting as it may be. In another thread, ichor went so far as to suggest that people who responded to the troll should be banned as well. I don't intend on leaving anytime soon, but if Rusty, Uncle Bill, or any other moderator sees fit to ban me, I'll leave without a fuss.

I think the opportunity this forum offers
for personal growth
is what has made it attractive to many here.
Challenges return until they are no longer challenges.

Kudos to Uncle for sharing.

Josh, you've done nothing to be banned for, but isn't it time to remove Bullshido, because of where it originated, from your sig line?

I think the term "bullshido" will be with us for a long time. I'm thinking about having it on my business card... Grand Master of Bullshido, or something like that.
I'm in favor of seeing the humorous side of things.
