Hello all, and again, I'm a newbie to the Forum and just posted my first thread over in the Balisong area, and have a couple more questions to ask about a couple of custom knives I have. The first is on a D'Holder knife that I bought around 1975-6 while at a Las Vegas Gun Show where D'Holder had a display. Think I paid $75 for it at the time and as you can see, used it a lot as a hunting knife; gutted out several bull elk with it. I know that I should have taken better care of it. Here's a couple of pictures of it:
The second picture shows how D'Holder carried the grain of the stag handle on into the forward part of the handle (I show this because D'Holder seemed to be really proud of that touch at the time). My questions are, is this knife still collectable in spite of it's condition, and can it be cleaned up by a knowlegdable guy so it's not so cruddy looking.
The second one is the yellow handled one on the right (the other is a 10 year old Cold Steel Peace Keeper, I think), that I bought to use in Cowboy Action Shooting matches; I think I paid about $100 for it. I have no idea who made it, but the blade is stainless and seems to keep a good edge, and workmanship is decent for what I bought it for. My question is, how do you determine a value for a knife like this, what do I look at to do so. Again, some pictures:
Thanks for any words of wisdom you can give me.
