Hi guys i just received my new diasharp stones but there's a visible scratch on the extra fine stone before i even used it. The scratch cannot be felt by hand and i was just wondering if it will affect performance and if i should return it?

I think DMT has a pretty good rep for making these things right, if you're worried about it. Might give 'em a call, see what they can do for you. Or, get in touch with the dealer where you bought it.

It'd be tough for me to say if it's a significant issue, without seeing it myself. But, the 'scratch' you see on the hone might just be a remnant of something that's rubbed against it. Being diamond, it'll remove material from anything that touches it. Might be a 'track' of whatever that material was, as opposed to an actual scratch. Sometimes that stuff will get embedded hard enough that it's difficult to remove by ordinary cleaning methods.

Mine came like that, too, and sharpening on it made even more "scratches." I don't know what they are, but they don't seem to affect performance at all.

Thanks for the quick replies! Well I don't mind as long as it doesn't affect performance. My guess is the scratch is from rubbing against the wood box it came in. Well since it seems to not be an issue time to start sharpening! :)

Heres the pic of it.
