There was a question about a dial indicator a few weeks back. J&L industrial suppy has them on sale. I got one today. It is nice for the bucks. I checked the side to side play in the stem NONE.
It is the .0005 model with .03 travel. 29.00
with two stems.
These are great for around the shop where grit and dirt are always a factor. Saves the federals and interapids for the kids hahahha

I looked on the site, Darrel--which indicator is it? And what about a source for a (very) small surface plate? Thanks!

Thank you, Mr. Ralph! Time to spend money! As an absolute neophyte, I figure that using some of the same results as a giant in the craft means I can't blame my equipment!
