Diamond Blade Knives

Anybody here actually used one of the new D2 diamond blades? Comments?

They are very, very new, and have not gotten to many markets yet. If you want some feedback, there are a number of active threads in Knife Reviews that discuss the blades themselves.

Steven: Thanks for the info, but I've already coursed through most of the threads. I was searching for someone with some decent field experience. If one were to believe the press releases, this newly fashioned heat treatment will be revolutionary. All the testing and subsequent arguments about CATRA and other experiments/term definitions/testing methods etc have little if any appeal for the average knife user and hunter. Basically we all desire a knife that rarely gets dull even after slicing the unforgiving skin of a hog. Then we want the blade to be stainless as well as unbreakable. To top it off, we desire a product that is cheap enough to snag an extra one as a safe queen. I am dubious that the D2, despite a newer heat process, can deliever these mandates.

1. The independant testing APPEARS to show that it holds an edge for a very long time.

2. It APPEARS to be fairly tough, and the edge itself acts like stainless steel.

3. The larger knives that would appeal for general useage cost about $400.00, according to the website.

I have a "Goddard" (4" blade) on order...should have it within "2 weeks". I'll let you know how it is shortly thereafter, but, I'm not going to destroy the thing, just general usage.
