hi,i'm looking for the best diamond compound/paste on the market! i have been using DMT dia-paste that seems to do o-kay!but maybe i could do better! as i really like stropping on leather with this stuff,if you could give some ideas on some other brands to try out! that would help, thank you.

Try the CBN Emulsions from KMESharp. The DMT that I have tried stays kind of sticky and is just weird. The CBN dries out with a nice even abrasive layer. So far my favorite. The bottles look tiny, but they go a long way. On one of my typical paddle strops, I use about 10-12 drops to prep new leather. Then just a drop or two every so often...usually many dozens of knives in between. EdgePro or KME mounted leather are much smaller, and use even less.

I have the same experience, the DMT stays tacky and doesn't feel right. I use CBN(Bark River I think) and have great results.

DMT compounds work better on balsa or harder woods... not very good on leather IMO.

Ken's CBN sprays are very good in my experience.

Ken Schwartz sells a line of diamond compound bars. Kind of like green or black compound, but with diamond. Here's a video of his showing one of them in action:

Ken also sells all manner of diamond and CBN sprays and emulsions. The emulsions seem like the best thing for strops if that's your targeted use.

Here is a great site that sells Diamond Suspended emulsions and strops to go with them!

Ok I Fixed it, that is the proper page on that website. Great diamond drops, goes a long way really........ You need a strop for each seperate micron level or you will have mixed grits and it just won't work as intended. They sell packages I think of a strop for each emulsion.

Before you got to levels that fine, you could also get even more strops and use some of these

To get a really good sytstem, with less gaps in between grits so you get a much better polish really.

I agree. Both of these have been my experience as well. I used DMT .5 micron diamond paste on a HandAmerica balsa strop with good results. The leather strops get CBN spray used on them and it's giving good results so far. I use the CBN on a two sided strop from Sharpening Supplies.com. I put it on the rougher side and use the smooth side bare for finishing up. Does very well on steels from 1095 to CPM 3V.
