Diamond Edge Restore

I picked up an old axe head, was hoping to restore it for my cousins wedding. It is a diamond edge? Is the mushrooming too much to grind off? And the profile looks like it was ground a bit wonky, can it be reshaped? Thanks

I wouldn't restore that axe. It has a very nice stamp and a badly worn toe. No sense in putting it back to work. Clean it up with a wire wheel - no grinding, no filing, and put a protective coating on it.

Yup, I'd second that advice. Prettier as a wall hanger/conversation piece than it would be useful as a cleaned up/properly reprofiled axe. Lot of miles on that one!

I would shapen up the bit from toe to heel to get it aligned better, for better overall presentation. I don't mess with mushroom polls, as you can't make them look right, no matter what you do. I would do the angle grinder, wire cup brush, WD40, and call it good after I fixed the bit.
