Do any of you use the diamond films for the Edge Pro? How do they compare with diamond plates (stones)? How long do they last? Any info. would be appreciated. I'd especially like to substitute for the Edge Pro 120 and 220 stones, as I like the rest of EP stones.

Good sharpening,
Dave

Diamond films are for final polish,I guess about seven small blades then they are done.

I don't know of any diamond film that would replace the 120g or 220g stones... like bonzodog said, most are for the finer grits and polishing.

I've used a 2x6 DMT DiaSharp stone in the EP...

... I'm sure with a bit of ingenuity, you could also use some of the stones DMT uses in their guided sharpener.

You can also use the cheap Chinese Ruixin diamond stones that are sold on the big auction sites. They are less than $ 5.- each or just over $ 10.- for a set of three with free shipping in 200, 500 and 800 grit. The quality is pretty good.

I have #1500 and #2000 stones.
I like the fact that they feel the same on the 50th stroke as they do on the first ones.
As stated, if a #120 film was out there, I wouldn't expect it to last long.
