Diamond hones and BreakFree

I used BreakFree (my preferred lube/metal preservative/gun cleaner) to clean up my DMT hones recently. It worked great. I put a few drops on each hone, spread it out, left them to sit a couple of hours, then wiped them clean. The BF did a terrific job lifting off the accumulated steel particles. Two great products...

Thanks, Paul. That's how I usually clean my diamond hones (I use one of those fine nylon surgical scrubbers to get into the little depressions, as well). I was surprised how much more came off a recently dish soap-cleaned DMT hone with BreakFree. At first I was concerned that the lubricating qualities of BF would affect the hone but it seems to work better than ever.

I'll have to try the break-free. I wonder if contact cleaner might do an even better job?

i have a spyderco triangle sharpmaker and thease ceramic rods get really dirty really fast. I have found the best thing to use on them is Zap 2000. it cleans really fast and really well. it also works good on dmt stones as well. olso that new orange cleaner works very good.:D
