Diamond paste

Didn't spread out the paste fast enough on a brand new strop.. how to I get the excess off without ruining the leather.. it catches my knife when I strop where the clunks of paste are.. also if I load the strop with the paste how long will it paste? Will the leather stop looking wet when I've used it up or anything. I have no expierence with strops

Spray isopropyl alcohol on the paste... moistens it enough to spread... with no ill effects.

It would also be good to mention a little goes a long way... use sparingly.

I've used WD40 on my strop with no ill effects.
