Diamond quilt pattern with pins question

Hey folks,

I can get the diamond pattern but was more curious about when pins are used at each of the intersections. How is that accomplished? What are people using as pin material? Are the pins hammered in or glued in? Inserted from the top or bottom? Peened? Looking to try so would appreciate if someone could point me towards a video or tutorial. Thanks!

I'd give Paul a call. Kinda above my pay grade.

Kinda doubt that, Dave. I just watched Paul's Advanced Sheaths video again. Good stuff there of course but no mention of pins. I'll give him a call but I have an idea about how I would do it if left to my own devices.

i4Marc i4Marc , he helped me out one time when I was trying to inlay a Special Forces emblem into a sheath. I don't believe spots are what Marc is looking for. We use a lot of them on certain projects and 1/8" is the smallest size available. Here on the headstall on the red dun mare:

We use quite a few of them as this spotted split ear headstall is the most popular one we make.

Marc is looking for something much smaller, really almost smaller than a pin head if I understand it correctly

Got it

I am looking forward to the answer to this question then. Maybe these pins are something I can add to my work.

Marc, are you talking about pins like del Raso did here? https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/sub-hilt.1755750/
He comments on the pins in one of the posts.

Update:

I figured out how to do what I wanted. Just posted this one over in Custom & Handmade. This ought to explain what I was trying to achieve......
