Are all diamond rod sharpeners created equal??? I am looking for something that can be very easily carried to quickly sharpen up in the field, camping etc. Are there some brands that are utter crap while others are worth more money? I don't want it to easily break, be a pain in the butt to use (for eg. it is very small) or clean (b/c I got deer blood on it), and I do want it to last a long time. What does everyone think?

For in the field touch up or even sharpening I use either the Eze-Lap with the brass screw on handle or a DMT rod sharpener. The Eze-Lap is a lot more rugged than the DMT and my first choice. Most of the other rod type diamond sharpeners I have tried are not in the same league quality wise. Both will last for many years and thousands of touchups. My Eze-Lap is at least twenty years old and will last at least another 40 to 50 years at the rate it is wearing. I don't think you could break it.

This is the one I'm referring to:

Excellent. That is exactly the kind of info I am looking for. Anyone else???

The Eze-lap works great on recurves like my kukhri. For all other blades I prefer DMT diafold hones for field sharpening.
