Hello,

I've never used either the spray or paste when sharpening knives. After seeing several topics on it I have decided to try one of them, most likely the spray.

I have seen it all over the internet at many different brands and prices. Is there any real differences in the brands or are they all pretty much the same? Also where would be the best place to find some at a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

They vary wildly. Ken Schwartz for example is a bit more costly but guarantees that they are all in the same grit range and offers the most amount of diamond in solution.

Where as dmt doesnt have that consistency. But I have dmt paste and it works alright.

If your going for pro or doing customers high value knives you may use one over the other.

There's alot of brands available. Iirc @DeadboxHero has one he fully recommends. I forget the brand though, maybe he can chime in on that.

Thanks Mo2 for your response.

I've looked for a way to contact DeadboxHero but I have not found any, I'm new here and not used to navigating this forum.

With all the talk about the diamond sprays and paste I would have thought there would have been some recommendations on where to find some.
Again I'm new here so this might not be allowed. I've also looked in the for sale sections and have not saw any but I might have been looking in the wrong place.

offers the most amount of diamond in solution.

Is the 'most amount of diamonds' is an important factor....
If so, why are interrupted diamond plates so effective? Do the non-interrupted plates sharpen twice as quickly, requiring only 4 minutes instead of 4.5 minutes to effect the same edge?
Is it worth it to spend $29.95 rather than $2.95 to save 30 seconds?
Or is it the bragging rights that one buys for that price?

I'm pretty new myself (been lurking for a few years) but you may have some luck with shaving forums. Some of those guys use paste and spray for their str8 razors. I used to when my hands were more steady.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here.
