Diamond spray question.

I use .5 Dia-Paste on one of my stops. I ordered some DMT .5 diamond spray. Do I need to clean my strop before applying the spray or can I put it on over the paste?

I always clean the strop before reloading it, regardless of the compound. I prefer to remove the embedded metal particles before applying the new abrasive.

Strops can be so incredibly cheap that there is no reason at all not to have several if you are going to use different compounds.
For under $20 and less than an hour's work you can have four very high quality 3"x12" bench strops. (Just a little longer time if you want to make a fancy wood base for them.) Much easier than trying to clean a strop every time you want to change compounds.
1 piece of 12"x12" vegetable tanned cowhide
1 piece of MDF board 12"x12"
1 tube of Contact Cement

1 craft knife
1 rolling pin
1 saw

We are NOT talking about building a particle accelerator...
