Im thinking about trying a diamond stropping compound for my harder steels. Which is your favourite? Paste vs spray? Dmt spray or paste vs ken schwartz spray? For how long does a bottle or paste syringe last?

I never stropped with diamond before.

I use a paste and have for a couple of years with good results on most steels. But I have read a few times from guys saying the spray works better on harder/higher end steels. I think I’m gonna be getting some from a member/knife maker here on the forum. Keeping it local.

I've never used anything but this paste, so nothing to compare it with. It's 25 years old with about a 3rd left. If it ever gets used up, I'll try the spray.

Paste on wood for me. I prefer the feel of paste on leather, therefore I do it too, but you cannot deny the almost absurd efficacy of diamonds on a hard substrate

I use the cheap diamond paste from China. On balsa for knives and leather for razors. Doesn't seem to matter what grit for the knives it all does the same job. I usually use 2.5u

I use sprays from Ken Schwartz. CBN or diamond, from 3 micron down to .1 micron.

I find myself using the 3 micron and 1 micron the most.

For the softer, low end steels, Chromium Oxide at one micron leaves a super smooth edge and is hard to beat.
