I just got a Buck Diamondback Guide. I like the size and feel of it.
I plan to take it with me while backpacking along with a SAK Trekker.

I use a Sharpmaker at home for sharpening - 40 degree inclusive angle.

Any special recommendations as to what to take into the field for sharpening the 420HC?

Thanks

Dexter,The small blue fountain pen like sharpener Buck sells which is a diamond rod that telescopes out of its body works well in the field. One end of the rod is pointed for serrations the other for fishhooks w/a flat side for knives. It has a tightening collett to hold the extended rod at the desired level then can fold back into its body.Very light.
Or just a plain E-Z lap flat diamond stone/steel 1"X 2".They work well. What ever suits your taste got for it but I'd shy away from the ceramic and carborundum stones as they break during my packing trip.DM
