Diamondback rubber handle and moisture.

I have noticed that the diamondback rubber handle can be very easily pulled away from the body of the knife...(where the blade meets handle only) leaving a very easy gap for water to get into. It has already caused what looks to be some rusting.

Is there anyway to stop this from happening...or is this because its a cheaper knife?

Anyone had a similar experience?

Is that the model 471?

I have a couple of those and a couple of 470's that live in my moms knife drawer. She discovered them once when we were processing a deer and loved them.

So naturally I got her some.

She runs then through the dishwasher regularly, top shelf I think, and has never had a problem. Been using them 4 or 5 years now.

I wonder if you could get some gorilla glue in there.

Or send it to Buck.

Ya think it may have gotten left in direct sunlight for a while...

sounds like the adhesive gave up.

hummmmmm.........sounds like a rehandle project!!! :D

Joe says he rehandled a 475, which is just a smaller 471, (I think) with elk. But he hasn't proven that with a visual as yet....lol...

Is the rubber around the blade supposed to be attached by some type of glue or something? Cause it doesn't seem like there was any type of residue or anything.

We gonna have to wait till Joe pops in here for all the answers. Unless someone else has taken one apart.
