I didn't notice till I got it home that it's supposed to have a clue detector as well as a crime-stopper's whistle. The whistle's pretty neat though. It's a Camco.

The Clue detector was probably a magnifying glass, don't you think?

Man, that is so cool. I had a Dick Tracy red and yellow Velcro wallet growing up. Fond memories, I hadn't thought about that in years. I agree, I think the clue detector was probably a magnifying lense.

Maybe you should leave it under a light bulb for a few hours:
I have seen several of the Camco 'Dick Tracy' knives (see LG4 page 139). These have a fold-up magnifier, and the handles glow in the dark.
BRL...

Found a post with a pic of the magnifier: LINK. From reading that thread, it appears the other character shown on your knife was Junior.

Thanks, guys.
I thought it had a missing spring till I saw the swivelling whistle, then I bought it without even looking at the back. I'm getting old, though- I didn't try the whistle until I'd dipped it in hydrogen peroxide (the whistle works).
I'm glad it's Tracy's profile that survives instead of Junior's. Probably protected by the bail.
I'll have to check for luminescence. And yes, with the magnifier on my big Vic SAK, I'm all set to solve crimes!

(later that same morning) I stuck it in the sun and held it down the basement stairs, and it does glow in the dark (thanks, Berkley). I doubt I can take a picture of it though.
