Did all sebenzas have internal markings? Or what year started?

I handled an older sebenza that is supposed to be ATS34 but had no internal engravings. Does anyone know what year the internal engravings started? If it was after BG42, then is there anyway to tell if it the knife was ATS34 or BG42 without doing metallurgic analysis?
 
  1. according to the History timeline 1997/1998.
  2. BG-42 started Oct 1996
  3. In1996 they switch from Original to Regular model
  4. So from those timelines it would seem an original is most likely ATS-34 a Regular BG-42, but here may be some overlap

Interesting, thanks! I'm struggling to find the exact differences between the original and regular. It seems like one difference may be the backside of the handle kind of curves out or curves in. And possibly stone washed versus polished blade? Also fluting on the frame edge and scalloping on the lockbar? Are those the main differences?

The changeover to BG-42 was done during the first 200 Regular Sebenzas. I have # 19, which is ATS-34, and #17, which is BG-42. The change is said to have taken place around #150.

They started the date codes in 1997. By then, they'd already made the change to BG-42. If the one you handled was an Original style, then it was ATS-34.

This is an Original style.

Thanks! I read through the stickied thread on dated changes. When did they start the pocket clips? It seems like the P-models all lacked pocket clips. And some Originals lacked pocket clips, but some Originals have pocket clips, so I assume they started with pocket clips at some point during the originals run of 1991 to 1996?
