in the RatGanza blades versus the original/previous production models?

My Swamp Wardens are REEEAAAAALLLY thin, which is a very good thing. Like .15" thick. Does that make them Anorexic Wardens?

Also the new RMD's do not have a swedge ground in them and are just a hair thicker. That combined with the black paper make the balance completely different from my black/black g-10 RMD. Also my previous RMD's had almost a convex edge and these are very obviously v grinds.

So, anybody else notice these differences or am I just crazy?

(maybe don't answer the second part of that question):D

I noticed something felt different when I first handled my new RMD. That's when I also noticed the swedge missing and the increased thickness of the blade near the tip. That had me wondering if their was a weight difference between the two knives. So, I got out my trusty digital scale. The earlier version RMD weighs 9.9 oz and the latest one weighs 10.8 oz. That explains the balance difference you described.

So no, you are not crazy! :D

Wow, that's almost a 10% increase in weight. The only bad part about that is, I have to buy a new sheath. The old kydex I had won't fit.

Jared, my RMD won't be here for a while, but the Combat Master I ordered should be here tomorrow. Let me know if you want to try it with your RMD this week. I'll bring it to the site.

(You'll need to bring your folders though! ;))

...anyone notice a difference with the older HRLM's vs. the newer ones? I only have an older one so no basis of comparison there.

I have to buy a new sheath. The old kydex I had won't fit.

I'd call/email the sheath-maker, you may be able to adjust it yourself with some heat, they should let you know and give you some tips ;)

but of course more sheaths are nice :D

It may be a little difficult of a fix.

You may try heating the spine a little with a hair drier or heat gun & sticking the new knife in to adjust it, but then the old one will not fit ?

just be super careful !!! it is easy to scorce the sheath !!!

Hope this helps, I should have my knives any day. :)

I have the old and new RMD, and I think I like the new one more. Just my opinion.

I think I do too. I am not a swedge fan and I am more than happy to buy another sheath. The question is, who will have the new version that can make me a sheath?
