I was recently told that supposedly a law was passed about 3 weeks ago making automatic knives legal to carry in Missouri but I have been unable to find anything on this. Is someone able to confirm or deny this??? I would like to mention that the person that told me this was a salesman. I noticed they had some benchmade autos but mentioned I didn't see a point in owning 1 since it was illegal to carry them. He proceeded to tell me that it was just changed and that's why they've been selling a lot of them lately. I do understand he could that he could have lied to me to make another sale. So if someone could help me answer whether any truth or not is to this I would greatly appreciate it.

It means exactly what it says. Automatics are legal in MO. Local jurisdictions may still restrict them. I am not specifically aware of any such local ordinances, but we don't/can't keep track of that sort of thing. You should always know your local laws. This is the reason that Knife Law Preemption is our major national legislative priority. it eliminates the lcoal ordinances more restrictive than state law and ensures citizens only have to deal with state law statewide.

What Critter said. :)

fwiw, I just researched Kansas City MO knife laws and I was not able to find any references to automatic knives. Doesn't mean there aren't any such laws - just means I couldn't find any.

In Nebraska I have seen some stores that sell Automatic Knives but I have not noticed any on the shelves in MO of the few places I go. Anyone know some stores that carry quality Automatics?

In the KC area, check out Outlaw Cigar (outlawcigar.com) in NKC, or Oddessy Martial Arts Supply in Independence (oddessy.com). Maybe give Snap Shots Gun Shop a call too. I don't know what they carry right now, but they used to have a decent selection.
