Did Buck do custom scales on 4 dot knives?

We happened upon a Buck 4 dot knife with stag / antler scales, and we are wondering if Buck made those as a custom back then or if it was an aftermarket upgrade. Also, would anyone know what box it would have come in back then?

I believe if your knife was made in the custom shop(was still open 1981-82) it would have the Buck custom tang stamp and be numbered.

I could not find any 110s in the 81-86 catalogs with stag. My guess is it was done after market.

Buck did do a stag and Damascus hunter but I couldn't find any production date.

Maybe others will add to this thread. HTH

Preston types faster. It could be either. Some good pictures would help. Standard box would be a 1 piece buff yellow and some custom shop knives would be in a 2 piece brown. Again, PICTURES for a more definitive answer.

They are out there. Buck was doing Sambar Stag in that time period. Search "4-dot stag" and you will get 3 pages of hits.
