Hi,I was wondering since Buck's been around so long, have they ever used carbon steel blades in their popular knives(namely the 110)?

I'm asking this because my 3 most recent knives(Case CV Peanut,L.R.Harner CPM3V 6" utility knife,& a custom R.J.Edwards in 1075) are non-stainless & I really like them. There was a time when I wouldn't touch a carbon steel knife, for fear that it would rust up on me immediately:D.Well, things have changed a lot since then.I find them easier to sharpen & they hold an edge better than stainless IMO.Also,I can seem to get them sharper than any stainless I've worked with before.

I'd really love to get a Buck 110 with a 52100 ,or a 1095 blade.Is such a thing possible?

Thanks,:)
John

I made up a knife or two using 01 and yes it sharpens up easy and gets dull easy.
Plus, I have to really watch how I treat it for it stains badly after merely cutting up vegetables. I must wash and dry immediately after use. Yes that steel is easier to heat treat. But over all I don't care for nonstainless, it has problems. Maybe D2 would be better. Some steel which is closer to stainless.DM
