Did Case ever use VascoWear steel?

Gerber did from what I understand in some kitchen/serving sets. I'm not sure about folders though.

I asked a Case collector/ dealer at a NC gunshow over the weekend and he stated he had never heard of the steel and tried to tell me about the CV steel ( which is the only case knives I buy now) thinking I was some confused strange guy that made names up to sound important. It does seem to me I read about case using "VascoMaX" steel.

Case, Gerber, whatever , I would love to buy and use knives made out of this no longer made steel.

Any suggestions where I could begin without paying huge amounts of money ( I have a custom dealer with some fixed blades made with old stock).

Thank you for any info, Joe L.

IIRC, Case used that steel on a series of Loveless-style drop point hunting knives for one year in the 1990's. It was after Zippo took over Case, maybe 1994 or 1995. I do not recall the exact year, but I believe they were only shown in one catalog.

I do not know for Case but Gerger made in the 80 ' some "Folding Sportsman II Vascowear blade" -FSIIV steel with black micarta inlay, the blades were stamped " V-STEEL " .

Thank you for the replies. Any idea how rare the gerber folding sportsman II knives are? I'd imagine the case knives would be almost impossible to find. All the case collector/dealers I've spoken to have never heard of it and look at me like I must be from mars. Regards, Joe
