Did Emerson G10 used to be smoother or did the scales get grinded down?

The G10 on this Commander are smoother than a CQC-8 i got from 2013 and was hoping somebody could tell me weither this is how the G10 was in 1999 or somebody sanded the scales? Thanks.

I can't speak to the past Emersons but maybe they've just smoothed out over time. My Mini Commander from 2010 (received new from Emerson in Jan 2011) had the usually shred your pockets rough g10 which I like. It still has grip but is significantly smoother.

Yes, the older Emersons had a smoother G10 compared to recent ones. The G10 that Emerson uses has gotten rougher as of lately (past couple years). The G10 of the past was just the usual G10 but recent ones use what is known a peel-ply G10 which is has a peel away layer that has a medium and coarse texture.
 
Real good to know the older models have smoother G10. Was worried was sanded down or something. Not a super big difference between the two but there's a differance.
 
as requested. ;)Actually like either of the G10 version's on both. I think both of these are taking a trip to the factory for some TLC though. CQC8 needs it for sure don't know what the problem is tried everything. got used and centering is bad,blade play, and lock slips so trip to factory it goes.The Commander would just like to get the factory chisel grind back on. Does anybody know if i ship both knives in at same times if they"ll get em right for $15 for both?

The G10 Emerson uses varies from year to year. My older ones have a much smoother G10.
 
My born in 2013 CQC-7 seems like the scale are not fought to the point of destroying my Wranglers, and Wanglers are all I wear.
 
Btw I'm pretty sure emerson charges $14 for return shipping, and $2 for any extra knife that you send in at the same time.
 
I have a pair of 2014 Mini A-100s. One has pocket shredding skateboard tape feeling G10, the other came with smooth, old style G10. I'm not sure why, both were bought from big online Emerson dealers.
