Did Gerber Paul Knife Influence Spyderco Gang?

I bought a Gerber Paul knife back in the 1970's for big bucks (at the time). It was one of the first one-handed opening knives and it was amazing engineering that produced lots of fidgeting by the geeky engineers and other techy folks of that era. Guys would sit around doing nothing but absently minded opening and closing their Paul knife while they worked, watched tv, etc.. It was addictive I can tell you.

This was a predecessor to Spyderco's one handed opening knives. We will have the ask the Glesser gang about that.

If you have never heard of this, here is a cool video.

It's a favorite design of mine but it's hard to imagine that it influenced Spyderco all that much or at all. The one-handed opening mechanisms are radically different.
