Did I buy a fake Buck 500?

I just bought a Buck 500 from Amazon. Shipped/sold by Amazon. The stamp appears as expected from photos, except that it has one strange figure. It follows the 500, like a square-shaped C with a dot in the middle of it.

Any idea what that extra mark is? Do I have a fake?

Thanks for your time!

Thanks bertl, that's great to know!

I have a 110, also, and never noticed the additional mark on the stamp: an upside smile with a dot in the middle. Quick google search reminds me I got the 110 in 2013.

Thanks for clearing that up!

It has a stamped used by Buck. Hard to say if it's a fake without seeing a picture of it or the box. Good, work sky. DM

Thanks, DeSotoSky!

I didn't see the sticky, thanks for pointing it out. Glad to know I don't have a fake. I sure do like the knife.

Thanks again.

David Martin makes a good point also. His point about seeing the box is that fakes don't have a barcode label. (again, yet). If you've got a barcode label on the box I would say you are good to go. Fakes frequently do copy the date codes.

Yes, I tried to post a photo, but couldn't get the google drive link to work. So I took a shot and it paid off.

Just got back in from digging through the recycling. I found the box and it does have a bar code.

Thanks again for all your help, everyone!

You threw the box away.....
Oh yeah, I forget, some people actually use their knives..... :)

Yes, I'm well aware of how to post photos. But for some reason it doesn't work with a link from my Google Drive. And I didn't want to bother starting a photobucket account just for one post. (Though, if it came to it, I would have.)

Luckily it didn't come to it.

Thanks for the tip!

I'll be sure to peruse the stickies before posting next time. There's a lot of info there.

But, hey, if I hadn't just gone ahead, we might never have met!

:)
