Did I get a bad peanut?

Hello all - first post on here (long time lurker). I recently got a CV yellow peanut and I'm wondering if I got a bad one since the nail nick on the clip blade is quite small and shallow. It's so small that sometimes my thumbnail slips out of it when I try to open it. The pen blade has a much wider and deeper nick. Are the nail nicks on the peanut usually the same size for both the clip and pen blades? It's hard to tell by looking at pictures since you need to see the knife from both sides.

the nicks on the peanut i have here appear to be same size, couldn't be sure about the deepness though.
but if i cut my nails too short, it's harder to open either blade..

I've heard this complaint before about the peanut. On some I've seen, the nail nick is a bit shallow, and out of habit, I've been careful not to cut my thumbnail too short. Once it gets broken in by repeated operation, and some oil now and then in very small amounts, it gets smoother.

Carl.

Luck of the draw? One of the three chestnut/CV Peanuts I've had had a shallow nick on the master blade. All the others I've owned have been okay. *knock wood*

The nail nicks on my CV peanut are same satisfying depth, although the one on the master blade is bit smaller size. Mike

The nicks on both my yellow peanuts are plenty deep. BTW, am I the only one that notices that the yellow Case's are more prone to have tips that hit the backspring? On both my yellow peanuts, the kicks on the clip blades are slightly ground down. On my Amber bone and Chestnut however, the kicks are intact with no problems. I'm assuming that the yellow Cases feature the "seconds" blades, but I don't know that for certain. I still love them though. Nothing a good hand sharpening can't fix.

Mine is shallow too on a SS model, but my main blade has some side x side play so my first Case knife is likely to be my last at this point *shrugs*.

I've started opening it by pinching now. The nail nicks are fine though.

Why is it whenever I hand someone a slipjoint, they can't open it? They'll sit there for a minute struggling to open it before I get sick of watching and take it back. My grandpa can still open a slipjoint!

Here's a pic I put together trying to show what I'm talking about. I tried to get the pics of the front and back as close to the same size as possible. It sounds like I'm not the only one with a peanut like this. Like others said, so long as you don't cut your fingernails too short it's not a problem. I still really like the knife - it's my go to EDC most weekdays.
