Did I Get a Fair Price?

I just went to a gun show yesterday, and happened across a knife table with a ton of high quality cutlery. Right off the bat I spotted a Busse, of which I have never handled, let alone owned. I asked the guy what model it was and he said it was a Sus Scrofa. I decided to buy it, so my question to all you Busse fanatics is, did I do good? I paid $250 for the Sus Scrofa plus a Kydex sheath, which, from what I gather, is the one offered by Busse. The table-holder told my the knife was purchased from a collector and was unused. Once I got home and oiled up the knife, i can confirm that this is the case. Just like i do with all my new purchases, I carefully scrutinize every aspect of the item, and this Busse appears flawless. So, did I get a good price?

You would pay $277 for that combo from bussecompanystore.com, so I'd say you did alright. Except for the fact that you bought the ugliest knife Busse has ever sold :barf: :D :D :D

Lol, it does seem unusual for Busse, but I'm glad I got a decent price. At least now I have a Busse in my collection. I forgot to mention that it is a Satin finish blade, not the powder coat, does that make it more desirable?

A lot of people prefer satin finishes for users because they clean up easier than coated blades. I'd say that stain finished knives are more desirable than coated knives because of their aesthetics not because they're more usable or easier to use. Also, satin finishes usually add on a considerable amount to the price of a blade when buying it from the Company Store. In the end, if you prefer a satin finished blade over a coated one, then the knife is more desirable. It really doesn't matter what anyone else says...;)

fpooner, you done good! is it an le or cg, throw up some pics and i am not one to be able to talk about pics, very computer illiterate, but it is gettin betta...

I'd say it's "worth" $270.00, so you did all right. Especially if you like it! I've paid up to 20% more than the "worth" price knowingly and I was still tickled to death by the score!

Nice, I wish I could find a Bussekin laying on a table around here. I am kinda digging this blade, let us know how you like it after you mess around with it.

you did a sweet score, i started my collection with a sus scrofa too.

she is beautiful in her own kind of way

Here are some pics, thanks again everyone.

It's such an ugly knife traditionally, but the more I see them, the more I want one. I know i'll end up with one eventually.

Good job on the knife though, the SS looks so much better not coated.

others have said, you did fine.

I, for one, use my SS all the time. I have modded mine, and taken out the reverse curve, stripped, and convexed it.
