I have been looking for a Busse fillet Knife for awhile ( to go along with my NMSFNO and MBC)and because I love to fish! well, I found one on the bay. I'm 98% its real but the filing on the one side is not exactly the same. What say ye?

Thanks for looking and any input!

AFAIK, Busse has never done (poor quality) spine filing like that. Almost certainly, some previous owner sent his genuine and rare Busse filet knife to a maker for a handle swap and spine mode.

Still a good score!

Resinguy is quite possibly correct. BUT then again it MIGHT be a VERY early Jerry hand made blade. Heck, email them with the info/specs and see what Jerry says.

Closest I've seen to those type of spine filings is on my D2 Field Grade knife which has them just in front of the handles for thumb grip/placement.

Thanks for the replies. Who do you think I should email? I have Garth and Lexi's email.

Thanks again!

I am sure either one of them can get the information to Jerry. Just ask them to pass the question and the info you have (ANY specs and pictures) on to Jerry.

Oh, and IF you plan on using it as an investment blade, keep all the correspondence you get on it.

Nice I was watching that one too. Wasn't sure either glad it found a new home. Let us know how it fillets!

I could be wrong...happens often enough ;), but I also think it's a real Busse that has been modded outside of the Shop. Still nice, especially for use. :) BTW, I didn't see it mentioned here, so apologies if you knew this already... This is an old school Busse knife, and so it should be D2 steel as it pre-dates INFI.

Thanks again everyone! Yes I am aware it is D2. Some believe this is better for fish over INFI. Pics with a letter have been sent to Garth. I'm sure they are super busy so I will be patient for a reply.
As far as an investment knife, I plan on using the hell out of it! I can't believe I finally have one. Its been along time looking.

I am really not sure. Way before my time but I did forward the pics to Jerry. Hopefully tomorrow he can shed some light for you.

Garth
