Did I make the right decision?

I had $100+ to play with for the month. I could've put it down on a CRKT hawk, or a number of other knife options.

And what do I do with it instead? I put it towards a vintage Ithaca Deerslayer that looks like it used to do police duty, currently on layaway.

I found it at the local pawn shop. The wall of artillery is finally starting to fill up again. I even passed up a Mossberg 500 for it, and I'm a big fan of Mossbergs.

If it's a vintage "pre-disconnector" M37 (pre-1975), you'll be happy so long as you did not overpay. No real collector value but great guns none the less.

As long as it wasn't price gouged at the pawn shop, I think you made a great choice. Those are great shotguns in general, though some vintages were better than others.
