Did I make the right decision?

I ran into a bit of money and wanted to purchase a new knife, it was down to a Pro-Tech Strider SNG Auto ($200) vs a Microtech UltraTech 121-4 ($250).

I ordered the SNG Auto, but I'm having a few second thoughts. The knife will be here Friday, did I make a good decision? No other suggestions please, these were my 2 choices over much deliberation.

I think you made the right decision. I would have made the same choice. These are 2 different auto knives. I think the out the side(pro tech strider) is a much more useful style. The ultratech being an out the front is much cooler, but less useful in my opinion.

I'd agree with your decision. I live here in Pennsylvania so everythings illegal to carry so be glad you can even carry it

I definitely think you made the right choice.
If I had to choose between the 2 it wouldn't even be a discussion, pro-tech all the way.

In Philly everything is illegal, literally everything, but At least we don't have a statewide size limit everywhere else, (unless you live in one of the few dumb municipalities with extra restrictions)....

But it does suck that autos and daggers are illegal.

You made the right choice I own several protechs and they are very well put together autos and have great customer service whereas MT is horrible when it comes to customer service.

dont like strider designs, but protech does it right. so yeah good choice if ya like strider designs.

side openers are much more useful than otfs for many tasks. course than ultratech is a single edge and so its real useful. i like the ultratech myself, but the glass breaker is a bit of a pain while carrying in pocket instead of a belt sheath.

all things equal...always pick protech over microtech and i own many dozens of each brand and like them both.

Of the two the Protech is a Good choice. I have a Microtech Ultratech and it's cool to play with. Opens letters and boxes with a vengeance. And it's slimmer to carry. BUT to have either/or, the Protech is the better choice.

Protech all day long! I would stay faaar away from Microtech. I personally wouldn't buy anything associated with Strider either, but Protech is top notch.

Honestly if you bought the knife to use you kade the right decision. If you wanted a knife to look cool and be a neat toy then you should have got a Micro.

You definitely made the right choice!
I have the knife you chose, and it is a winner!! Excellent action, great lock up, feels great in hand and it's tough as nails!
Pro Tech also has great CS!
Enjoy it!!

Yes. Good decision. Protech-strider looks like a great knife. Strider design/style at half the price. Enjoy it.

Both knives are from companies that have a strong reputation for producing high quality knives. What it comes to is whether or not you are happy with it. Personally, I would have went with the Pro Tech as well.

Pro-Tech is the king autos, and the SnG a very well made knife. Combine those two, and you get a hell of a knife.

Man I wish Strider made a model with a thinner blade and lighter weight.

I live near Chicago where people are afraid of their own shadow, and nearly everything is illegal. Just thinking about an auto could get me arrested.

I can legally carry a concealed pistol but a knife has a blade length limit of 2.5" in the city limits. Asinine.

Good thing I live in the suburbs, where people are slightly less afraid, and laws are looser.

Enjoy your auto!
