Oh my! I better put my Kissing Crane Soddies under lock and key!

I really hope that price is a typo and he really doesn't mean $60! Heck, I'll sell him mine for half that and he can make a nice profit on them. ;)

Thought you all would enjoy it. Maybe I'll put it on my watch list just to see if anyone actually is dumb enough to buy it.

Btw, I just got a NIB Brown Mule KC37 in the mail today that I got off ebay from a very nice fellow in South Carolina for $4.99 along with a new in the package TL-29 so the shipping was combined. The KC37 sits nicely beside my KC35. Only problem is that now it looks like I'll have to get a KC36 to complete the set. Sheesh.

Jeez Amos, in the last Smoky Mountain catalogue I saw the brown mules kissing kranes for 6.99 to 8.99 or something like that, depending on the size.

Do the e-bay hucksters know no shame?

Sounds like that fella owns an oil company, figures he can charge whatever the market can withstand....

I bought one of of Ebay for around $8, give or take a little...and it ain't worth that:thumbdn: :thumbdn: I keep meaning to take some pictures so people can see what they really look like...or at least what some of them look like. On mine the brass liners have a gap and the blade to back spring fit brings fond memories of my first Pakistan Lock blade as a child:D

LOL, I clicked the link to see what happened and now the knife is up there as a "Buy it now" for $25 plus $6 shipping. Heheheh.

I hadn't used my KC37 much at all after it came recently. Today I took it out with me when I took the dog out. Wow! This is the little one and man it cut! I'm used to usually having to at least do a few strokes on the stone with any knife. This little Mule sliced right through some small tree/bush seedlings that are popping up where they are supposed to. Using the forward edge on some and the rearward edge on others I just reached one handed and cut at an angle and, swipe, right through. I cut some thick leather and some manila rope with it afterwards and it cuts quick and clean. This KC37 walks, talks and SNAPS! Good fit and finish, all on an inexspensive knife. The blade stays open and it takes some push to close the blade.

Sorry to hear about your own experience. Both the large and the small Kissing Crane Brown Mules I have are good, solid, simple knives. My experience with these two so far is that like Moras and Opinels, they are a lot of tool for little money.

Sigh, I guess I'll have to get the KC36 to make the set after all. Now if the guy was selling all three knives together for $20 and $6 for shipping that might work. As it is his listings for the knife are almost as entertaining as picturing Jackknife's moron mashing bread with his POS Chi-lock.

I've got the KC Brown Mule, which I paid about $8 for, and considering that I'm very happy with it. Fit and finish are pretty rough, but it walks and talks, and it takes a super edge. In fact it's one of my favorite knives to sharpen. I'm pretty sure the blade is carbon steel. I could be wrong about that though.

Speaking of over-priced sodbusters, I was looking at some of the Moore Makers and the prices just baffle me. Now, I'm a big fan of Moore Maker knives, pricey though they are, but $50 for a delrin sodbuster? I wonder who the heck is buying them?

Perhaps just to make a statement, after looking at the $50 MM yellow delrin sodbuster with 1095 steel on ebay last night, I bid $15 on a new in box Case large yellow SB with CV blade. Today I won it for $13.50. With shipping I'm still under $17 for it. I don't know what I proved, but I feel pretty good about it. :D

LBG, my Case CV is my favorite of several sodbusters. It's the most satisfying to sharpen, and holds an edge! And turns a deeper gray as time goes on; beautiful!!

LGB, what you proved is that you got a great knife for a great price. At a local hardware store I paid $22 plus tax for a Case yellow handle CV Soddie Jr. Like Waynorth and others on here, it is a favorite. I think you will really like it.

Thanks guys. I have a Case yellow SB junior, and I couldn't ask for a better. I also have the black stainless SB which I also like a lot. I guess if there's any sod that needs busting around here, I'm pretty well prepared. :D

My goodness! I just watched one KC36 go for $15 something on ebay and now this!

I'm astounded. And these aren't even ebay newbies that are paying this, but people with high transactoin numbers. I mean, $22.51 for a $10 +- knife? Recently I spent $4.99 on the NIB KC37 and got combined shipping on it and another knife so the total was under eight bucks. A few months ago I spent $2.50 plus shipping that was a little more than the knife for my KC35, and still the total was just under $7. Sheesh, I have one more KC36 I'm bidding on to make my set. If that one goes astro then I'll just say the heck with the game and just go buy the blasted thing on the net for a lot less than these folks are paying.

I know how to bring the prices back down. I'll try to sell mine. That should bottom the prices on Kissing Crane soddies real quick. :D

So we now have amusement from both the selling and the buying side!

The KC sodbuster is a decent knife. We use a couple of them here for opening the daily onslaught of boxes from the UPS truck.

I've often though of my KC sodbusters as the knife equivelent of the old Stevens break open shotguns my family kept around when I was a kid. Not fancy or high tech, but they got the job done!

I certainly like mine. I just wish them folks on ebay would hold off long enough for me to get my KC36 at a good price so I can make the set!

That KC37 I recently got is a snappy, sharp, and very pocketable little knife.

Like Moras and Opinels, the KC soddies are a great cutlery value for the money. At the "normal" price you can toss them in several places to always have one around. I've been eyeing the full size KC35 and thinking it would look good with some muzzle loader type decorations on it. You know, some small brass tacks, maybe some appropriate sized stock inlays, or even a Texas Ranger Star. Maybe some brass pins in a North Star pattern. Dunno if I will do anything to it anytime soon, but why should Opinels have all the fun.
