I was perusing the Knifecenter site and saw the Spyderco FRN UKPK listed having an S30V blade and the picture (though labeled as a production prototype) shows a full flat ground blade. Is it a typo? I was under the impression that these would be GIN 1 and saber ground.

No, the Proto had a S30V-blade, the final run will be GIN1.

Not a bad choice, considering the price-point...

They haven't been for a while. It looks like they are starting to use it again.

I have alwys been pleased with GIN-1.

I purchased my UKPK in April on eBay from one of Spyderco's biggest distributors. As you can see in the pics, it is indeed FFG CPMS30V. Nothing on the label or blade indicates that it is a prototype. Hope that helps. Sorry for the crappy photography.:o

True, but yours is the Foliage Green G-10 version and these folks are talking about the new FRN versions that, AFAIK, have not yet been released but are due out any day now.

My apologies. I missed that.

There is the G-10 version with S30V but wasn't FRN version with Gin-1 steel? I've seen proto pictures and I did liked it.

Thanks for the responses. Guess it was a typo. Considering the price listed it seemed a bit to good to be true.
