Hi all,
I just bought a Lightweight '98 Endura plain edge, and paid $69 for it in L.A.

I know that's the price listed on the spyderco webpage, but it still seems a little steep, considering I've seen them online for quite a bit less (I've always preferred purchasing face to face).

Either way, I love it, seems like a great knife!!

Sure you coulda paid less, on the net, but you weren't *overcharged*. I've seen stores asking lots more for 'em. At least you got to walk out the door knife-in-hand, instead of mopin' around waitin' for the mailman

. Instant gratification costs more than priority mail, but once in awhile it's alright to indulge. That's a sweet, sweet knife.

Fabian,
Considering what I've read from other Autsralian forumites in regards to shipping and customs duties, I would say you got a good deal. Plus you got to pick it out in person. Spyderco has great quality control, but there is always that one that has a little better action, etc. The important thing is that you like the knife and it suits your purposes, right?

Thanks Paul,
I am just a cheap bastard...

I think that it's also the Australian Dollar that's killing me, at the moment we get around US49c for one australian dollar

Also, a big thanks to Sal for making such a great knife!!!

The more I use it, the more I love it.

are ya happy w/the knife?? if the answer is yes , IMHO ya got a deal - thats the way i look at it - i dont mind spending an extra $$ or 2 if, a) its what i want, b) its not MUCH higher, c) THEY HAVE IT NOW lol - i often lose the $$ i should save on knives i buy OL because i overnite them, $25 - but i get to wanting the darned thing lol......

Hi Fabian, Frank. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

Fabian. I believe you will be enjoying the knife for quite a while. It is well made, a highly refined design (certainly the most copied in the last decade) and well worth the price paid. Of course Im biased (but I know what goes into them).
