Did I purchase a fake Buck Paklite Caper sheath?

Here is the sheath that I recently received with my Ebay purchase of a Buck Paklite Caper knife. Is this sheath a fake?

Snap
Suppose to be silver in color. Mine is black.
The snap is suppose to open to the rear of the sheath. Mine opens to the front of the sheath.

Plastic insert
There is suppose to be a plastic insert inside the sheath that holds the knife in place. My sheath has no plastic insert.

Knife falls out of sheath
Even with the snap closed the knife falls freely out of the sheath when turned upside down. You can clearly see this in the video.

That doesn't look right to me. Mine fits tight with a plastic insert. Mine is from 2010. so it could be different. I have a hard time believing Buck would do some thing like that. Did you buy it from a reputable dealer? My Caper is 6 3/4" , most counterfeits have different dimensions than a Buck. My sheath label just has 135 no "BK".

I suspect that more than just your sheath is fake..... :D You have to be careful buying certain Buck knives on eBay. The model 135 is being counterfeited in China. They are fraudently marked made in "USA". The can be purchased on a website that is known for selling Chinese counterfit stuff directly thru the mail. They are $6.99 shipped directly to you from China. Here is an ad copy from that website. There is also a bulk price if you buy 10 or more...

I have a small sub-collection of counterfit Buck knives and the real ones for comparison. I need to add this one.

I have a paklite skinner, mine doesnt look like your. I got mine from a big box sportings goods store

DeSotoSky You are on top of counterfeits. I just wish they would stop ripping people off, it gives Buck a bad name. Did that site have the dimensions of the Caper knife.

My caper measures 6 1/2 inches not 6 3/4 inches. Looks like both knife and sheath are fakedy fake fake fake. Guess it's time to dispute the ebay purchase as counterfeit but I will wait for another opinion or two.

Thanks.

I would like to see a picture of the box and does it have a bar code label?

No box was provided with my purchase. I contacted the Ebay seller and said I thought the sheath was a fake and my reasons for thinking this. I now suspect that the knife is also fake (6.5 inches vs. the real 6.75 inches) but did not mention it to the seller (I hadn't posted here yet). The seller offered to refund me half my purchase price but I definitely do not want to purchase counterfeit goods, no matter what the price. I've never had a counterfeit purchase problem on Ebay but my thoughts are that I should be refunded my entire purchase price and the seller can pay to have the counterfeit items returned to China at their own expense.

The sad part about this is that I checked the Knock-Off, Counterfeit, Fake Bucks & The Americans Who Sell Them thread before I made my purchase. I did not realize that thread only covers American sellers. I thought I was safe since I did not see the Caper listed in that thread.

Oh well, no big deal (for me). I only paid $5. I don't want no stinkin' fake Buck so I will pursue that matter through Ebay and Paypal. I suspect the seller will refund my total purchase price rather than have me file a counterfeit complaint. I also suspect that the seller will not ask me to ship the fake back to China. The question them becomes what do I do with the fake? My smelter is not operating at the moment.

anrkist..... OK, the whole story is out... you purchased a knife for $5 directly from China and thought you were getting a bonafide USA made Buck knife !!??

Eat the 5 bucks and stop whining, you got what you paid for. You already know how to post pictures on this site, that's great. Now that you have a known counterfit, go buy one from a bonafide USA seller and expect to pay about $20. When you get the real one, come back and give us a critical comparison of the two that might help the rest of us identify a fake. Also post a copy of your review on our counterfit thread. When you're done, throw the fake in your tool box, you never know when a dirty job will come along you wouldn't want to abuse a good knife for..... :D

Oh, and welcome to the BUCK forum.... don't go away..... your fun is just starting.

Stop whining? Do you really think my post was "whining"? Or do you think it was a sincere request for information about a suspected fake knife? Your post was more of a "whine" than anything I posted. Perhaps I caught you on a bad day.

From the seller ...

"Thank you for your response. I am really sorry for bringing you this disappointed experience purchase. Our supplier guaranteed all knifes are real, to be honest, i am not 100% sure this knife is real, but the quality is worth.we will issue a full refund for you in this order as you like. and you don't need to send back the item for us. OK? If there is anything we can do please let me know, we will do our best to give you a satisfactory solution."

So I was going to post here asking what I should now do with my fake knife. Keeping it is against my principles (even stored in my tool box!) but unfortunately my smelter is out of action at the moment. I guess that I could keep it for the moment and post a comparison review between the fake and the real Caper that I will now purchase. DeSotoSky suggests posting a review in the "counterfit thread" but I am not sure what thread he is referring to. I see a sticky thread in this forum but it is entitled "Knock-Off, Counterfeit, Fake Bucks & The Americans Who Sell Them" but I did not purchase from an American seller. At the peril of being accused of "whining" again, can someone please point me to the proper counterfeit thread? Is there a thread for counterfeit non-American sellers?

Thanks for all the info and advice.

The "BUCK" PakLite Caper is a great little knife. I used it last week end while processing my son's buck. It is worth while to get a real one.

This thread is as funny as they get. I agree with DeSotoSky. A Buck knife sold in China for $5 and than wonder if it is a knock off. Of course it is. For $5 keep it and use it for when you would not want to ruin a good knife and let the seller keep the money but please stop giving the counterfeiters our money.

My humor doesn't always fly well on this site.....
There is only the one Counterfit thread.... the "sticky" one is it..... perhaps the naming is misleading, it's for any counterfit info for research.
Looking forward to your comparison.
