Did I receive a blem or fake?

I purchased an American Lawman directly through Amazon and upon receipt I noticed the text "Cold Steel" does not look right. CTS XHP is also before Taiwan. The knife is also overly oiled and the spine of the rocker arm is not perfectly flush with the G10 scales where there is gimping. Did I receive a fake or a blem?

I noticed the same thing when I received my xhp lawman. Turns out cold steel is trying a new font on some of their blades so I wouldn't worry about that. As for the lock bar not sitting flush with the scales mine had that problem too but after a few day of carrying and using the knife it seems to have broken in. Now sits flush with the scales.

It's never possible to be 100% sure from a photo, but it looks authentic to me
The logo changed earlier this year and the steel is mentioned before the country of manufacture on a lot of the new models

Please email this image and the info to our customer services team via customerservice@coldsteel.com
They will double check this for you. Make sure they also get pics of the area you think is incorrectly finished.

Thanks!

looks very legit to me, all the hardwares, scale and the new markings. Even the blade grind that doesn't extend all the way to the end is typical CS :)

That logo matches the one that is on my Cold Steel Recon 1 Clip-Point with DLC-coated Carpenter CTS-XHP blade.

(That is the new logo for 2015.)

It is the limited-edition from Knifecenter with the Olive Drab green G10.

Did Cold Steel overrate the weight of this knife? It is listed on their site and at most shops at 4.5 oz however mine tips the scale at exactly ~4 oz(3.95 oz to be precise)

That is probably the stats for old model with thicker g10.

It looks right to me. The rocker arm will wear in. The Triad Lock is often very tight when new. Can you push it down at all? It will settle in within a few days of use. Enjoy the knife.

Yes, I can disengage the lock with one hand now although I'm not sure if its more of the lock components settling in or my thumb becoming stronger :). Perhaps both. The spring was as stiff as a board new but has certainly softened some since the time of receipt. This knife, in my opinion, belongs in the conversation of top EDC knives. It certainly challenges the praised Para Military 2.

I am also wondering if I got a fake from Amazon. My American Lawman matches the above picture. I just feel that the DLC Coating is not as shiny or smooth as my Broken Skull or Mini Recons in CTS-XHP that I also have.

Can anyone help me with this? Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays too all also.

There is a thread about DLC finishes on CS knives looking different....so don't worry and enjoy your knife
