Hi every one

like my martial arts along with real knives. Always thought people practicing their katas and forms with dull aluminum weapons where wasting good practice.

So last week I added a Uncle Bill Especial to my collection of fixed blade fighters .
Wow very nice piece .
As the snow melts here in Cleveland Ohio I will do some chopping so I can realy get the feel of the blade.

Yesterday got together with some training partners and we were using 2 KA Bars and 3 Randalls. the Uncle Bill more then attracted the main attention.
However i will say the double edged Randall is very nice in close combat

Thanks
H.I.

lol, nice 2nd post... much better than the first :D
welcome to the HI forum... again :)

I was in Cleveland this weekend...almost all the snow is gone.

I once knew a guy who trained with live blades...may he rest in peace.

When someone begins their weapon training and are working on stances and movement they always use dummy weapons,

The 2 guys I was working with all have 30 plus years of experience plus myself and one of the training partners were and are correction officers with the great state of OHioi :grumpy: in a max security prison. not the time for stories but I have more then seen my share of shanks.

There are some interesting threads on some martial arts forums about the pros and cons of real blade training. It appears that most teachers prefer real blades. Both sides have valid views, though I don't think anyone would start a new student that way.

I have the movie model version a little heavy for MA.

Thank you for the warm welcome

Plan on being around on this forum .
Somehow I feel a Tibetan sword needs to find its way here to Cleveland.
Ok M. Taylor

welcome to the forum alan.

what type of martial arts do you currently practice?

Hi Dave

I am currently active in D.K.I.
Dillman Karate international , Dillman is the pressure point guy
I teach at his camps and seminars However this will most likley be my last year of this as I spend most of my time in Qi Gong and Tai chi

that being said I am involved in Jodoryu Jujitsu International founded by T.A Frazer This system combines small circle jujitsu along with the internal energetics of the Disharmonic Emotion Theory.

And as if i dont do eneough the last 7 years I am a student of Dr. Song Park in the art of Kiaido This is a system of martial arts and healing using the internal energy of sound and direction.

Whew started with my first black belt in 1975 so a little over 30 years without a break in training.
And you what arts are you in

as in Wally Jay small circle?

Hi Azis
Yes studied one weekend with Wally jay and another with Leon Jay
GM Dillman and GM Frazer both incorporate small circle and Leon used our systems They "flow well together".

We use pressure points to make the wrist and finger locks more effective

UBE is an interesting choice. And I see you've already been bitten by the bug, eyeing swords. Welcome to the forums!

If I used a real broadsword for Wushu training I'd be dead by now.

With knives its different, but training with a partner (in the past) it was either rubber knives or wooden ones.

But the thing is.. all these 'knife fighters' don’t know anything about knife fighting on an intimate level. They’re a lot of aspiring action heroes…

Want to be a tough guy? Cool, wave razor sharp blades at other tough guys. But who are you kidding?
Killing or maiming someone with a knife is said to be deeply psychologically traumatic by anyone who has done it, and you'll have nightmares for the rest of your life – unless you are a total psychopath and actually digg that shit.
So consider these things...

Hi Grime

Do not in any way claim to be a knife fighter.
Am very involved in the martial and healing arts without weapons.

The fact that I was a corrections officer and of my 2 long time training partners of over 15 years 1 still is a corrections officer with 25 years at the same prison as IO was and the other guy does use knives gives us our own way of training.
As a correction officer with my martial background and being on 3 rd shift i was one of the 5 responding officers to any fight and emergency.
The other CO was fore many years the certified unarmed self defense instructor for the institution.
When we train with blades it is not the fighting that many do as a bravado and false actions.

We use what we saw in the prison /
The real blades are to get over the SHOCK value of seeing a BIG knive Granted the blades the inmates use are usualy 3 inches or so but I clearly remember the first time I had to cuff inmate who was behaving psychotic and wildly threatining to kill another inmate,
It was a shock to move in on him and to see a shank half hidden by a hand towel,

We do knife training maybe 3 times a year.

Appreciate your comments but why get worked up with your thoughts before you know the facts of what I do.
making derogatory personal comments based on lack of knowledge shows your biasis and lack of understanding of anothers situation.
the world does not revolve around what you think and as the old saying goes

" there is more than one way to skin a cat"

PS Grime
"Practicing without consistency and a long term plan is mearely called playing and not training"
Coach Wu Bin

My prior post reflected on my plans and over 30 years of practice so as one of your greatest masters quoted I think I qualify as one who trains not plays.

"Yes studied one weekend with Wally jay"
