Did ka bar have anything to say about the new ek knives at blade show or are they still torturing us?

In the voice of George W. "Those fancy pants corporate types don't know what it's like to be kid."

Christmas will come.

It was tight-lipped and tense when EK came up. I thought one guy was going to be escorted out. Ka-Bar is getting serious about a "no teaser" policy, and I understand why. Too many wasted man hours fielding calls and other correspondence about knives not out yet.

What the 'ek???!
Better be worth the wait...
Come on cutco, lets see those finger grip scales at least
Pretty please?...

I was teasing about tense, but I never tease about finger grip scales.

Ooooh....
Gotta hand it to them being so tight lipped.
Such a tease, huh?

shouldn't that more properly be a left hand?

I think the traditional response to production questions like this is "we're working on the final details and it should be ready in a few months" -- of course it took Busse 5 years to bring out a limited run of MUK's -- and ESEE still hasn't come up with a second prototype for their folding Izula 4 years after the first one -- so I'm not sure we're using the same calendar.

it's probably safer to say it'll be ready on the first of Octember.

Yeah, but they didn't say which year. ;) he he

Construction on the Empire State Building took 410 days, start to finish. Perhaps a motivational field trip to the big Apple is in order for Kabar/EK/Cutco management?

I've seen this movie before. The last time I believe the star's name was Becker. "Are we there yet".

Apparently so,

This ka-bar ek is about as top secret as that stealth blackhawk helo that went down in pakistan.
I would like to speculate that it could rival
the tops us combat knife with a more (hopefully) attractive price alone.

I figure, they might actually loose the brass guard and come up with
An integral blade/quillion or in moulded form as part of the zytel scales.
Moses and his party took 40 years
I hope this wait won't turn out epic.

Fixed it...
That things fugly. Really reminds me of a flea market Chinese special trying too hard to be tactical and still resemble the real thing.

It lives. The No. 4 is generally not the kind of knife I buy, but I am certainly tempted. Probably will handle one in the coming months at a knife shop and make a decision. I sort of know exactly how it will feel as I have handled them made by EK before. But will see what Kabar has done with it. Curious about the sheath.

that is... hideous... after watching the video, I was expecting something better but seeing that made me want to :barf:

The Kabar-EK No 4 is a dagger and not for everyone. Puck somewhere else.

I have to agree with the Kabar approach of not announcing things pre-maturely. All you have to do is look at ESEE and see blades that were announced over a year ago and still haven't appeared beyond the prototype at Blade. The Dave Canterbury knife is such a knife. They had a new one that looks kind of like a scalpel at Blade; we'll see if it makes it out in "a couple months" as was stated there. I am not holding my breath.
