Guys,

I am gearing up to build some fancy Wood , Micarta and G-10 grips for Beckers and ran into an interesting issue.

On the Blade Data base sticky thread, the Socket head bolts for the Large Beckers are listed at being 10-24 x5/8". Taking screws directly off of a 2011 made Black box BK2, I came up with 10x32 bolts, not 10x24.

I checked a half dozen other brand new Beckers I have here in the shop and found the same thing, 10x32.

Could It be the elusive Chinese replica talked about on the blade database?

Sam.

Not a chance of that. I don't own Chinese anything in blades.;).

Read my post. Every one of my knives are current KABAR made products right out of the box.

In the blade data base, there is a separate post on handle slabs and hardware specs. The hardware dimensions came from Tooj himself.

Which is why I asked because it could be that those specs were changed since they were provided a few years ago.

The blade database is wrong I believe. 10-32 is what came stock with every BK&T knife I have purchased or was given. Not sure if they changed it at some point or if 10-24 was put for ease of replacement with stainless (my local hardware stores don't have 10-32 but have 10-24) but at least it isn't as bad as the chicago screws in the back of the BK2, those are metric.

Derek,

Thanks for your feedback on this. Knowing the work that Bladite and others have put into that data base. I was not about to contradict it but I sure do want the correct bolt specs.

I guess in the final analysis no matter what the thread pitch, all 5/8 long #10 socket head bolts/ nuts will fit , I simply wanted to use the correct bolts.

and on the BK2 with liners...10x24x3/4'' work better!

the stock bolts from my BK2 will Not screw into the stainless x24 nuts I bought...so apparently they aint x24 either.

i think they sometimes throw the same physical size in there sometimes, but use metric, or whatever fits if they run out and need to source more. by design or by accident.

T,

Yep 3/4' long bolts may be in the works for my all wood handles due to the fact I am going to thicken the web section behind the screws and nuts a bit for a bit more strength. The Micarta will not need it but it may be beneficial on the all wood versions.

As to your factory bolts not fitting 10x24 nuts ,that's probably because they are also 10x32..;)
