Did Kershaw upgrade the Speedsafe mechanism?

I was private messaging a guy on YouTube and he said when he took apart his Knockout there was a coil spring like an automatic instead of the usual torsion bar that we all know and are sometimes annoyed by. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this? I've taken apart all of my Speedsafe knives and they all have the torsion bars, but all of them were made before 2013 so could there be an upgraded version perhaps? I personally think that it's not a bad idea if it is in fact an upgrade because all the torsion bars ever do is rattle and sometimes break. Let me know guys....

I would have to see pictures to believe that. Kershaw autos were the only ones to use a coil spring that I know of. My guess is he has a Rogue that he is calling a Knockout.

Yes, they upgraded the Speedsafe. The new and improved version is called KVT :D

The Knockout uses a torsion bar, just like every other speedsafe knife, your youtube pal either doesn't know the difference between a torsion bar and a coil spring, or he's trying to mislead you for some reason.

Can't be a knockout if its a coil! I'll bet he meant Breakout ;) I'd ask for photo evidence of said knife and spring to see just what in the heck he's talking about! Rogue, Breakout, 0610 and 0650 are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head from KAI that use a coil spring.

You're probably right.
