I just bought a new rebar yesterday and in working to break in / loosen it up I noticed that it has no date code.
There are production marks on the lock levers which aren't date codes, but there's no regular date codes.

Btw this is the stiffest new leatherman I've ever received and I'm making very little progress in breaking in anything but the plier pivot.

I think my Charge + TTI dates from 2019. That is when the guy who gave it to me says he got it, anyway.
There is not a date code or any production marks anywhere I can see on mine.

I suspect for the "25 year warranty" they might go by when the original owner registered the tool, or there are minor differences consumers won't/don't know about from year to year the factory uses to date it, or they go 25 years from when the model was discontinued. (current models like the 300 Super Tool that has been in production for more than 25 years are still under warrantee, even if the particular tool sent in for warranty work is a first year production.)

I don't know if Leatherman's warranty is "Original Owner and Proof Of Purchase Required". If it is, then logically, the date the tool was registered would determine if it is out of warranty. Anyone not the original owner (like me) would be out of warranty.

My Bond has 2021 date codes, so now I'm wondering if maybe some just slip through occasionally.

I just noticed that my rebar has the updated slightly longer tanto shaped file, so it has to be newer production than my '21 dated Bond .

It has been a few years, but Leatherman has repaired or replaced tools for me that were more than 25 years old. I had a bunch of original Waves that were damaged by my own hamfisted actions over the years, and when I e-mailed to see if I could get them repaired for a fee, they replied "They're covered. Send them in." I did, and they repaired or replaced all of them, no proof of purchase or registration required. The last time I did pretty much the same thing, they called and asked if all those tools were mine (several of them were ones they had repaired before and I had managed to break again). When I told them they were, they replaced them all.

I have never really needed the warranty before, but when it comes to my old Fuse that sure wasn't for a lack of trying.

I actually just fixed my dads ST300 for him today.
He wanted me to perform some basic maintenance and sharpening on it and I noticed that he had broken the tip on the smallest flat blade driver.
It just took a minute on my belt grinder to good as new.
There was no point in bothering with a warranty claim because he wanted it back on his belt ASAP.

I just finished pulling a stainless steel sliver out of my index finger.
Apparently leatherman did not deburr the saw in any way, and there were a couple slivers hanging on inside the nail pull of the saw.
I got it all deburred and the sharp edges knocked down.
