no bowie fans anymore ? i got a "Gambler" about 4 months ago and then there was a lot of buzz about them, got the book and the video, now nobody seems to be into them, i've had one for sale and theres no bites......Also, what happened to SOF ? it looks like they aren't running Bagwell anymore, that's the only reason i buy it..

what's up ????

Here's my take. The Bagwell series is a expensive limited use knife. The market for newer Bowie's is rather small in the grand sceme of things(compared to folders,etc...). Add to this that the Bagwell is specialized design, not a general utility Bowie(think CS TrailMaster), and that further limits the market.

Also a lot of the buzz surrounding them has died down. It's a great design, but those that wanted them probably already bought one. Also, a large number of them have appered on the market as of late at reduced prices.

I personally think the knife will hold it's value, but you'll probably have a tough time on the resale market right now, all things considered.

HTH:D:).

Granted, the interest in the Ontario Bagwell Bowies is pretty specialized - these are fighters, not camp knives - but it's still there. I've sold two fitted with Southern Comforts this month, one last month, and just got an order from a Swiss gentleman this morning. SOF hasn't been running "Battle Blades" because they are concentrating on the war on terrorism.

i just got my new Cold Steel catalog and they have a new coffin handle Gambler-style with the bagwell style sheath....just seems like things have cooled.

Well, if you're trying to sell one, it sure isn't obvious. I just did a search on the keyword "gambler" and your username and didn't get any hits in the "For Sale" forums. You might want to make it more prominent if you want to sell. Maybe that's why no one is buying -- They don't see it.

Hope this helps.

I saw your ad, but the temptation couldn't overcome my total lack of use for a display knife at this point ... :( I do recall a couple of similar offers recently, I think on another forum. It might be that the market is saturated for now. If you can hold onto it, you could try for your price again in a few months.

Sales are funny. I've been buying a lot from other guys, and twice recently, I wasn't the first to try for an item that had just gone up for sale. "If you snooze, you lose" -- but I wasn't snoozing! Then again, other good stuff will just sit there unnoticed.

Wait till after April 15th and everyone knows how bad the gummint is going to bite them this time around! :D

Don't know if you're up to trading, but I've got a few items in the trade forums I'd swap for the bowie itself...feel free to e-mail me if you can't find them.
