Did some one say Spearpoint?

Here is the first knife that I did in 2008. Every year for the first knife of the year I try to do something that I have been wanting to make for awhile. This year I forged a 7 3/16" blade from my Loki's ladder damascus. The guard and handle bolts are stainless and the handle material is amber stag. Over all length is 12 3/32. The stag has great color. The left side of the handle had a rather large bulge by the guard that I had to unfortunately grind down to make the handle symetrical. But I would would much rather have it symetrical. The overall profile of the handle is thin, it tapers from the guard to a slight swell at the butt of the knife it feels really nice in the hand. I am unsure what it is about the spear points but I am drawn to them and find myself making them when ever I am not filling orders.

You do spear points as well as anyone and better than most. This is a beautiful piece - love it!

Man, that sure is a winner in my book! Great start to a great year. Going to keep it for Jerry's?:D;):thumbup:

Very nice Craig. Spear point, damascus and stag.......just can't go wrong with that combination.

Nice choice of materials. I am fast becoming a big fan of amber stag and that's a nice piece that mates well with the damascus you used.
Very nice package.
Can't tell from those photos--did you do a frame handle or mortised hidden tang?

I normally don't care for spear-points at all Craig... but this one kicks ass. NICE!!! :thumbup: :cool:

Very good flow, beautiful damascus, premium amber stag all come together to make a great fighter.
Good work Craig. :thumbup::thumbup:

Thnaks everyone. I really enjoyed making this one. As I mentioned it was a pattern that I had been wanting to work on for some time. I was wanting a nice sized blade but with an overall slim profile that could be worn easily outside the belt or tucked insised the waistband with out causing a large bulge and being uncomfortable.
