Did someone lose a chape (scabbard tip)?

I'm reading the very intersting ifish thread Weird Findings in the Woods when I see on page 27 what I think is a chape from a khukuri scabbard: post 1569. The pics don't show the weld or the rolled tip that my khuks exhibit but it could be there. If someone has an account over there, a post might be useful and possibly answer the question.

Definantly the Chape off a Khukri scabard. I've taken a few off over the years and they look exactly like that.

Definitely some kind of chape, and I can think of very, very few blade styles other than khukuris that'd have as thick of a scabbard as that, and that'd be suitable for hiking. Looks like it's made out of steel though, judging from the rust, so it might not be an HI. IIRC, 90% of HI khukuris use brass or nickel silver for all the fittings. Main exceptions I can remember are the Bonecutter, and I think the WWII?

The forum looks interesting so I registered and posted that it's probably a chape off a Khukri. . . Another H.I. Khukri user beat me to explaining what it was. He posted a picture of an H.I. Tamang with it's scabbard and a nice custom dangler sheath.
