did Spyderco ever make any unlined Renegade

I got a renegade in trade in excellent to new condition, this one is odd because compared to my renegade, it has no liner and only G10 scales. the side that would have housed the liner also extends our at the finger choil, this is understandable because the renegade, I understand, was originally designed as a linerlock model.

so did Spyderco ever make any unlined Renegade?

Yes I have one.

The earliest examples will be linerless. A liner was eventually added to give the clip screws more secure purchase.

It is not true that the Renegade was originally designed to be a linerlock. That is an old, but persistent myth.

I can see how the rumor got started, with the handle configuration of the renegade, it would have made sense. Good to know the real story behind it.
