I recently purchased a couple Spydercos from Wire Edge and one of them, the yellow H-1 Salt, had been butchered by the knives previous owner before Wire Edge got it. The guy had removed the original clip by just grinding it off it appeared and made a mess of it. I intended originally to just toss it in a gear bag or tackle box but I decided to give it a little TLC and repaired the mess and added an old Spyderco clip I had laying around. The first pic is from Wire Edge’s sale post where I bought the knife. The bottom pic is of my best effort repair job. I know it’s not prefect but what do you guys think?

Looks like solid work to me. The black pocket clip is a good addition and once it gets a little patina will be a good match. Good job

whyd the original owner do that? talk about over doing it.:) nice repair op...weird what some folks do to their knives. nice save on that one. it lives on......

I saw that sales thread and though, "What kinda bubba, home done, drunken blade smithing abomination took place there?!?"

So, given the starting point, that's a pretty righteous fix, right there.

I have no idea what Mr Ciip remover was thinking when he removed the clip but he at least could have removed it diligently. He made a total mess of it. I did what I could with what I had and came up with a decent fix. Not the prettiest knife in the world but at least it’s pocket friendly again. Thanks guys for all the compliments.

I know why the original owner did it. Either the original clip broke, or the owner could not stand clips.

That knife looks good enough to use. A hard working knife is not supposed to be pretty.
